QUICK UPDATE from Cartagena

So much work lately and no time to blog!! We gotta make a quick update before going to sea again. Two major events has gone down:

Sail leg Bonaire - Cartagena, 4 days - Lots of wind and waves, managed to snare the propellers in fishing line and had to go into Curacao. The Coast guard saw us and borded us. They didn’t find anything. We were away again and had some eventful fishing. Caught a smallish tuna but most times the fish played us, snatching lines and taking lures. At last Simon managed after more than one hour fighting to land a 25 kg yellowfin tuna! Best thing we ever eaten.

Hauled out in Cartagena - This has been a struggle. 37 degrees in a dusty sandpit with strong winds, windows had to be closed. Up early and work into the night. Was supposed to be only bottom paint and a couple minor things but we got a bit carried away and started ordering more work. We had planned to do most of it ourselves but found that there were plenty of workforce and really good prices. So we went ahead and polished the whole boat, new lines and no more adding green turtle on the side! However, a lot of mañana mañana and in the end we had to fight to get everything done as we like.

Kenobi is looking great and we’re cleared out and heading for Panama tomorrow! First stop is close to El Porvenir in San Blas.

More blogging to come soon when things quiet down, see you in Panama!
